One can safely conclude that the campaigns period leading up
to Kenya’s general elections is again, here with us. For quite some time we
have all been yearning for a revolution, change, new faces, new everything but
this almost always remains nothing but just a simple little wish deep within
us. All we always hear are the same old voices, a bit louder, saying the same
old things “promises” that they always say every election period. I wonder why
we always fall for this guys “politicians” sweet nothings, yet we are the very
same people who raise up our voices behind the scenes to share with a friend
that we are tired??? Is it possible for me to do something more than just
complain all day behind the scenes? YES it is. Change is not always easy but it
is possible. It starts with you and me. The power to make this change we thirst
so much for a reality, lies in our hands as the electorate. If only we could
realize and appreciate just how much political power lies in the hands of the
electorate, then no one from the political class would dare joke with us.
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for, we
are the change that we seek. Start now by saying NO to those who still think that
it’s all about having a deep pocket and YES to those who’s definition of
success is seeing you and me EMPOWERED. Your vote is the single most powerful
tool that you can use to exercise your choice during the polls. When that time
comes make a wise choice and vote for CHANGE!!
